Déménagements Rapide participates in the opening of the Quebec and Canadian North

Important Dates in Our Development

1943- Foundation of Auclair Transport by Noël-Aimé Auclair. His wife Noëlla and his eleven children all worked in the business at one time or another, contributing to its development. Auclair Transport began with the distribution contract for the Royal Post Office, at first performing local deliveries north of Quebec City and later throughout the province.

1971– Noël-Aimé Auclair joined his sons and acquired Rapide Transport, obtaining permits for the expansion of their operations to the national scene. Rapide Transport operated under the banner of Atlas Van Lines for the next 27 years.

1980– Opening of Montreal, Fermont, Chicoutimi and Goose Bay branches, as well as sales offices in Matane, Sept-Îles, Labrador City and Îles-de-la-Madeleine. Rapide Transport thus became the largest family business in the Quebec moving industry.

1993– Opening of the branch in Goose Bay on the Labrador coast. Rapide Transport was a pioneer by taking moving vans over the new road connecting Labrador City to Goose Bay, via Churchill Falls for the first time. Rapide transport was then recognized as THE specialist of the North.

1996– Foundation of Groupe Auclair with the acquisition of Star Moving, Lapointe 2000 and Déménagement Bellechasse. Daniel Auclair then held the position of President and Fernand Auclair was responsible for the northern regions. At this time, Rapide Transport, a leader in Québec in the residential and commercial transportation industry, became Les Déménagements Rapide Inc.

1998– Déménagements Rapide was approached by United Van Lines, Canada’s largest van lines. Groupe Auclair joined the team of the best moving companies, becoming the main UVL member in Quebec. Déménagements Rapide could now use the revolutionary transport container system developed by United Van Lines, which is also now adapted to our storage needs.

2003– The third generation gets involved…
